Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A young man was hit by a train on Friday night in Düsseldorf and seriously injured.

For reasons that have not yet been clarified, a group of three young men were in the area of ​​a track system near Ackerstrasse in the Flingern-Nord district around 4 a.m., the fire brigade said.

A 22-year-old was then hit by a passing train.

The seriously injured was taken to a Düsseldorf hospital.

According to current knowledge, there is a mortal danger.

The rescue workers called by passers-by took care of the man while he was still in the track bed and, with the help of rescue workers, brought him out of the rough terrain.

In order to ensure safe medical care, the section of the route was temporarily closed by Deutsche Bahn.

The other two men were physically unharmed but had to be looked after by an emergency chaplain.

The investigation into the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
