Wiesbaden / Berlin (dpa / lhe) - The corona pandemic continues to spread in Hesse.

Further 2010 cases were registered within 24 hours, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin on Friday (as of 3:09 a.m.).

There were another 24 deaths linked to the virus.

The nationwide incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days, increased to 165.6 from 161.5 the previous day.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 251,353 infections and 6,715 deaths have been reported in Hesse.

In the regions, the city of Offenbach had the highest incidence with 299.4.

The districts of Limburg-Weilburg (286.8), Hersfeld-Rotenburg (278.3) as well as Fulda (261.7) and the city of Kassel (204.3) were also above the value of 200.

The Werra-Meißner district recorded the lowest value with 99.4.

According to data from the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive and Emergency Medicine as of Friday (as of 7.19 a.m.), there were 476 Covid-19 patients in the intensive care units of Hessian hospitals, 230 of whom were ventilated.

1753 of the ICU beds available in 1956 were occupied, including by people with other diseases.
