Dresden (dpa / sn) - The "Jugend debattiert" state winners come this year from Meißen and Großröhrsdorf (Bautzen district).

Alexander Nedelchev from the Sankt Afra Meißen high school won for grades eight to ten, as the Saxon Ministry of Culture announced on Friday.

The 15-year-old debated the question of whether corona vaccination should be mandatory for everyone as soon as general vaccination is possible.

Jakob Holling from Ferdinand-Sauerbruch-Gymnasium Großröhrsdorf prevailed in grades eleven to thirteen.

He prevailed on the question of whether the imperial war flag should be banned.

The winners and the runner-up represent Saxony at the national finals on June 19, 2021 in Berlin.

"Youth debates" goes back to an initiative of the Federal President.

Every four pupils discuss a controversial issue for 24 minutes per debate.
