Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD), the federal emergency brake is an “important step” in the fight against the corona pandemic.

"We are in a crucial phase," said Woidke on Thursday in Potsdam.

"We must continue to act decisively and consistently and sustainably reduce the number of infected and seriously ill in order to break the third wave."

In his words, Brandenburg has always advocated a nationwide framework for combating the pandemic.

The cabinet is expected to decide on the Brandenburg Corona Ordinance on Friday, which will be changed due to the new federal emergency brake.

Woidke had insisted on the possibility of scope for stricter restrictions.
