Itzehoe (dpa / lno) - The trial of a 47-year-old who is charged with attempted murder before the Itzehoe district court continued on Thursday with the victim's testimony.

The accused's 31-year-old wife, who was critically injured with a knife on July 6th last year in Heide (Dithmarschen district) and saved herself by jumping out of the bedroom window from a height of 3.50 meters, had previously relied on her right to refuse to testify appointed.

"In the end he screwed up and has to answer for it," she justified her statement.

The woman, who also appears as a joint plaintiff, described the day of the crime, at the end of which she had to accept the loss of a kidney and a fragmented fracture in her right ankle.

It was a normal day on which the accused and the victim each consumed "five to seven beers".

There was a dispute about tobacco, but not a major argument.

In the evening she made their daughter ready for bed and went into the bedroom.

Her husband appeared there and asked twice if she wanted to say anything else.

She said no.

Then the defendant lay in bed with her and she “felt the first stab”.

After that, the 41-year-old is said to have said that it was the day she would die.

The injured woman jumped out of the window.

In the eight-year marriage, there were more vociferous arguments, but the 31-year-old could not remember any mutual insults in the run-up to the crime.

The defendant has so far been silent on the allegations.

In a statement read out by his lawyer, he let it be known that he had ruined everything and hoped that the victim would forgive him.

The trial is scheduled to continue on April 30th.
