It is noted that "the police explain to the audience that their action has not been coordinated with the authorities in accordance with the established procedure and warns of the liability for violation of law and order stipulated by law."

According to TASS, referring to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the department employees "in cooperation with representatives of other law enforcement agencies ensure the protection of public order in the central part of St. Petersburg, where a group of citizens attempted to hold an unauthorized public event."

"As of 20:30 on April 21, 2021, about 4.5 thousand people are taking part in the event," the ministry said.

Earlier it was reported that the Moscow authorities did not agree on the holding of public events on April 21 and May 1 due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia announced responsibility for entering illegal mass actions and calls for participation in them.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also called on Russians to refrain from participating in uncoordinated actions.
