Berlin (dpa / bb) - After accusations of racism and a non-extended contract, a dancer and the Berlin State Ballet reached a settlement before the Berlin District Arbitration Court.

The lawyer for the dancer Chloé Lopes Gomes confirmed a corresponding message from the court on Wednesday in Berlin.

After that, the dancer's contract will be extended by one year, and she will also receive 16,000 euros.

The State Ballet had already announced the consequences of the racism allegations, and any form of discrimination and racism in the company would not be acceptable.

Lopes Gomes had asked for a return to the company.

She had repeatedly had to listen to racist comments from the training director, she had accused the State Ballet of.

The employee said that the State Ballet shouldn't have hired her because she was black.

A black woman in a “corps de ballet” is not aesthetic, not homogeneous.

For a “Swan Lake” performance, she was asked to put on white make-up.

Last season, the two co-directors Sasha Waltz and Johannes Öhman had surprisingly left the State Ballet.

Since then, the company has been looking for a new management.

This is also an opportunity to realign the State Ballet and to create a protected atmosphere in the ensemble, production and administration, the State Ballet had declared.
