Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - The Lower Rhine cabaret prize "Das Schwarze Schaf" invites you to the digital finale in Duisburg's Mercatorhalle on May 1st.

Five artists and artist couples from all over Germany qualified in the preliminary rounds, announced the Mercator Foundation, which sponsors the competition, on Thursday: Beier & Hang, Florian Hacke, the Goldfarb twins, Martin Valenske & Henning Ruwe and Peter Fischer.

The competition, endowed with a total of 12,000 euros, is aimed at young cabaret artists.

What is needed is socially critical word cabaret, according to the announcement.

The prize, which has been awarded every two years since 1999, commemorates the cabaret artist Hanns Dieter Hüsch (1925-2005), the “Black Sheep from the Lower Rhine”.
