Krefeld (AP) - The relegation-threatened third division soccer team KFC Uerdingen has, according to media reports, almost ten million euros in debt.
The “Westdeutsche Zeitung” and “Kicker” reported (Thursday) that the insolvency plan has now been sent to the creditors.
A creditors' meeting will take place on May 6th.
The club and the liquidator did not comment on the insolvency plan upon request.
At the beginning of the year, the Krefeld district court installed an insolvency administrator for the association.
Previously, the investor Mikhail Ponomarew had left the club.
According to the “WZ” report in the insolvency plan, the insolvency administrator cites the debt of “highly paid players” as the main cause of the debt.
In the third division, the KFC currently has to worry about staying in the class.
After three defeats in a row, Uerdingen is one point behind the first non-relegation place six game days before the end of the season.
Because of the bankruptcy petition, three points were deducted from the KFC.
