Berlin (dpa / bb) - According to the police, two men attacked and injured each other with knives “probably because of a woman” in Berlin-Neukölln.

Both the 25 and 42-year-olds were taken to the hospital for inpatient treatment, the police announced on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening, numerous family members and friends of the men streamed into Sonnenallee, some of which disrupted the police operation.

According to the police, the injuries of the two men are not life-threatening.

The exact course of the dispute is now being determined. According to the spokeswoman, the two men first argued verbally on the sidewalk of Sonnenallee before they injured themselves with knives. Thereupon the younger one informed police officers in the nearby Wildenbruchstrasse who were busy with a traffic control.

An estimated 80 people arrived during the subsequent deployment of police and rescue workers, some of whom insulted the police.

The emergency services had called reinforcements.

As the spokeswoman explained, four men wanted to follow an ambulance in a taxi.

Police could only have prevented this by taking the occupants out of the vehicle and handcuffing them.

One of the men was the taxi owner.

All four were able to walk again after checking their personal details.
