Berlin (dpa) - According to the police union (GdP), almost 30 police officers were injured in the demonstration against the nationwide tightening of the corona restrictions on Wednesday in Berlin.
Far more than 300 demonstrators were arrested, the GdP announced on Thursday.
During the demonstration with around 8,000 participants around the Brandenburg Gate and on Straße des 17. Juni there were sometimes violent clashes with the police.
Because many demonstrators did not adhere to the Corona hygiene rules with distance and mouth and nose protection, the police ordered the rally to be dissolved at noon.
Many people resisted, so the police intervened and pushed people from Straße des 17. Juni into the zoo.
There were attacks on the police, violent scuffles and bottle throwing.
Police officers sprayed pepper spray.
Individual participants were carried away.
Around 2200 police officers from several federal states were on duty.
They had cordoned off a large area of the Reichstag building and the Brandenburg Gate.
Demonstrations were then also in front of Bellevue Palace, the seat of the Federal President.
