Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Due to the new regulations of the Corona emergency brake, the model projects of the hospitality industry in Saxony-Anhalt are about to end prematurely.

The state chancellery confirmed on Thursday that their continuation is prohibited by law.

Several restaurants in the Harz Mountains and two hotels in Mansfeld-Südharz are currently open in consultation with the Ministry of Economics and the districts in compliance with strict safety and hygiene rules.

Saxony-Anhalt's state government had created the possibility of trial openings in its state corona ordinance.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs in Saxony-Anhalt had approved the first model projects for openings in restaurants and hotels during the corona pandemic.

In the Harz region, pubs with an appropriate hygiene concept and with an incidence of less than 200 in the district are currently still allowed to open their outdoor restaurants.

The trial was originally limited to April 30th.

In the district of Mansfeld-Südharz, the ministry approved the opening of two hotels between April 16 and May 14.

The new regulations could take effect on Saturday at the earliest, the law passed the Federal Council on Thursday.

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has yet to sign it and it has yet to be announced.

The measures are limited to June 30th.
