"
The party must learn to live without its founding president
," its spokesperson Jean-Bernard Padaré told us. To do this, he says he relies on some of his strong values: the defense of the integrity of the territory and the security of Chadians. A historical value recorded during the historic congress and which they hope will unite in this period of external threat, explains a member of the office. This also explains why the MPS supports the establishment of the transitional military council,
while the opposition rejects it outright
.
This first consultation was held a few days after the death of President Déby, because concern had spread to the ranks of the MPS.
The suspension of the Constitution, which guarantees multipartyism, was a blow to the party, but the publication of the transition charter making political activities possible ended up reassuring the activists.
