Flensburg (dpa / lno) - The handball players of the SG Flensburg-Handewitt celebrated a special anniversary on Thursday.

The 35:29 (17:16) over Eulen Ludwigshafen was the 50th unbeaten Bundesliga home game in a row for the league leaders.

The best thrower in the team of coach Maik Machulla was the nine-time goalscorer Jim Gottfridsson.

The owls started very bravely, were in the lead until 6: 5 (11th minute).

Then SG director Gottfridsson took over the command.

First the Swedish vice world champion scored the 9: 7 (17th) and a little later also the 13:10 (23rd) for the Flensburg team.

Ludwigshafen was not discouraged, went into the break with only one goal behind and was again 18:17 in front shortly after the restart.

Again it was Gottfridsson who increased the SG's lead to three goals with a converted seven meter to 23:20 (41st).

As the playing time increased, the superiority of the hosts became more and more apparent.

The lead grew to five goals, and in the end the Flensburg team came relatively safely to their eleventh win in their twelfth game against Ludwigshafen.
