Dresden (dpa / sn) - The volleyball players of the Dresdner SC forced a fifth game in the final of the German championship.

The team of trainer Alexander Waibl prevailed in the fourth game at Allianz MTV Stuttgart after another tough fight with 3: 2 (25:22, 25:17, 22:25, 17:25, 15:13).

The Elbe city women were able to equalize in the "best-of-five" series after a 2-2 deficit to 2-2 and have the chance to win the sixth title in the club's history on Saturday in their home hall.

It was the third game that was only decided after five sets. Once again, both teams had a high-class exchange of blows at times. While the hosts had to do without their ailing exceptional talent Krystal Rivers, the DSC started with the usual regular formation and once again had the outstanding point collector with diagonal attacker Maja Storck (28 points).

In the first set, both teams fought a close match until shortly before the end. In the crunchtime, however, the DSC women kept their nerve and national player Jennifer Janiska played her whole experience with two clever attacks. In the second section, Dresden clearly set itself apart with powerful tasks, variable attacks and strong block and field defense. But in the third round the guests lost the thread after a 14:10 lead, while the MTV got better into the game after a change in its ranks and then also fought for the set equalization with an increase in performance. In the tiebreak, however, Dresden reported back and led from the start. But when Stuttgart fended off three match points, things got tight again. National player Camilla Weitzel redeemed the DSC and sank the ball in the Stuttgart field after 116 minutes.
