Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Due to the Federal Infection Protection Act, people in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have to adjust to some changes in the corona measures. From Saturday onwards - with the exception of the Hanseatic city of Rostock - all hardware stores across the country would have to close in principle, said Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) on Thursday in Schwerin. In regions with 7-day incidence values between 100 and 150, shopping is still possible after making an appointment and with a negative corona test that is no more than 24 hours old. At the state corona summit last week, the state government decided that the hardware stores should generally remain open.

In addition, the exit restrictions already imposed in some regions are changing.

These start with the Federal Infection Protection Act from Saturday at 10:00 p.m., at last this was an hour earlier.

A mask at FFP2 level is also mandatory in local public transport and at the hairdresser's.

Zoos, animal parks and botanical gardens are still allowed to open their outdoor areas to visitors, but a negative corona test is necessary in counties and urban districts with a 7-day incidence of more than 100.

This regulation did not exist in the northeast either.

Schwesig reiterated that the nationwide 7-day incidence would have to fall back below 100 in a first step.

On Thursday this value was 141.2.

The head of government reiterated her criticism of the adopted law.

She is "very dissatisfied" with it, it falls "far behind the rules of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania".

In their opinion, the law is exaggerated in some places, such as the mandatory test for a visit to the zoo.

The schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which have been closed since the beginning of this week, will not reopen until the 7-day incidence in the state is below 100 for a week.

"Then the schools open again with a step-by-step plan for face-to-face teaching," tweeted Education Minister Bettina Martin (SPD).

The Abitur exams in the state begin on Friday.

The number of new corona infections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania remained at a high level.

As the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus) announced, 492 new infections were reported on Thursday.

That was 159 more than on Thursday a week ago.

Six more people died from coronavirus infection, bringing the country's death toll to 956.

The incidence increased by 3.4 to 141.2 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week compared to the previous day.

A week ago, this value was reported to be 149.0 nationwide.
