US Central Command Commander Kenneth McKinsey said that work with the Afghans and NATO will be focused on ending US forces' missions in Afghanistan.

He added at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that the goal of the US mission in Afghanistan was to prevent terrorist groups from launching an attack on the United States.

McKinsey made it clear that all necessary measures would be coordinated with allies for a safe exit from Afghanistan, pledging to secure an orderly and safe exit for US forces from there.

The US official affirmed that the United States is cooperating with its agency and international partners in developing plans, and will take all measures "to ensure the safe and orderly withdrawal of all our forces and those of our partners."

He pointed out that "this includes the deployment of a significant combat protection force in anticipation of the possibility that the Taliban decide to intervene in any way in our organized redeployment."

An American concern

McKinsey expressed his concern about the ability of the Afghan security forces to control the country.

"I am concerned about the ability of the Afghan army to withstand after we left; the ability of the Afghan air force to fly, especially after we stop support for those aircraft," he added.

Earlier, a US official said that prominent US military commanders were seeking approval from the Pentagon to send an aircraft carrier to near landlocked Afghanistan to help protect troops while withdrawing from there in the coming months.

The official, who requested anonymity, said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had not yet approved the request but was expected to take action in the coming days.

The US State Department announced the provision of additional aid to Afghanistan in the amount of $ 300 million, and the ministry said that the funding is aimed at improving access to basic services, promoting economic growth, combating corruption and drug trafficking, as well as supporting health and educational services and independent media.

The State Department added that it would use civilian and economic aid for a just and lasting peace in Afghanistan.
