Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - After the attack on his own father and on police officers rushing to help in Bayreuth, a 44-year-old arrest warrant was issued.

He was accused of attempted manslaughter, the police said on Thursday evening.

The man reportedly assaulted his 81-year-old father on Wednesday, who then called the police.

After the aggressive 44-year-old locked himself in a room in the apartment and refused to open the door, officials called for assistance.

When the emergency services then forcibly opened the door, the man stormed out with a knife and attacked the officers.

The officers had used pepper spray, but to no avail - so that finally an officer used the firearm.

The shot hit the man in the hand.

But he didn't give up.

Several police officers had to break into the home to provide first aid and arrest the man, who resisted heavily despite the injury.

He came to a hospital.

The father was unharmed.

An officer suffered a pop trauma from the gunshot.
