Wiesbaden (AP) - After a suspected illegal car race with risky driving maneuvers on the Autobahn 3 north of Wiesbaden, the police arrested two young men.

The two 20-year-olds from Cologne are said to have been breakneck driving between Idstein and Limburg on Tuesday, endangering other road users, as the police announced on Wednesday.

A civilian patrol had become aware of the two, who gave the appearance of "dueling at the wheel of their vehicles".

The officers then observed, among other things, how the two drivers overtook several road users on the right and drove up to a few meters in front of the cars at speeds above 100 kilometers per hour.

In some cases, both are said to have been traveling at speeds of around 200 kilometers per hour at a permitted 120 km / h, the police said.

In Limburg, the two 20-year-olds were reportedly withdrawn from circulation.

In the meantime, criminal proceedings have been initiated, among other things, on suspicion of the illegal race.

In addition, a suspect was being investigated because he had initially given false personal details.

Neither of them are allowed to drive a car until further notice.
