Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - According to the state government, all health departments in Hesse are now connected to the Luca app - for contact tracking in the event of a corona infection.

The app is intended to replace paper lists and document contacts in retail or catering.

In the event of a proven corona infection, the data can be transmitted in encrypted form to the responsible health department and read out directly.

"With the provision of the Luca app, we offer the possibility of efficiently documenting contacts and thus tracking them," said Health Minister Kai Klose (Greens) and Digital Minister Kristina Sinemus (CDU) on Wednesday.

The Luca app can be used free of charge for retail, gastronomy and the cultural sector.

With the Luca app, users can register for a visit to a restaurant or an event, for example, by scanning a QR code with their smartphone.

When you leave, you check out again.

If a person infected with corona was in the vicinity at the same time, this information would be transmitted in encrypted form to the responsible health department after approval in accordance with data protection regulations.

Use of the app is voluntary.
