Bayreuth (dpa / lby) - An 81-year-old called the police in Bayreuth on Wednesday for help because he could not defend his aggressive son.
The 44-year-old son faced the officers with a knife a little later - after all, an officer shot him in the hand, the police said.
The son denied the officers access to the apartment, who then requested reinforcements.
The officers had used pepper spray, but to no avail - so that finally an officer used the firearm.
The shot hit the man in the hand.
But he did not give up, but withdrew into the apartment.
Several police officers broke into the home to provide first aid and arrest the man, who resisted heavily despite the injury.
He came to a hospital.
The man's father and the police officers were unharmed.
