Berlin (dpa / bb) - With a stolen motorcycle and without a driver's license, a man fled the police in Berlin-Lichtenberg.

He hit a trash can on Tuesday evening and was taken to hospital for inpatient treatment with injuries to his spine and leg, the police said on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the 34-year-old should be brought before a judge on Wednesday.

Several preliminary investigations are pending against him.

According to the police, the man had narcotics and prescription drugs in his backpack.

In the Rummelsburg district he suddenly accelerated during a police check.

He raced away much too fast.

During his escape, he had meanwhile come into the opposite lane, ignored a red light and drove onto a sidewalk.

According to the information, passers-by had to evade in order not to be hit.

The motorcycle was reported as stolen in Brandenburg, and the license plates were also stolen.
