Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - In Saarland, 294 new corona infections were reported within one day.
The nationwide seven-day incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week, rose to 137.3, as the Ministry of Health in Saarbrücken announced on Wednesday.
The previous day the value was 133.1.
The number of people who died in connection with Covid-19 rose by one case to 959 (as of 4:00 p.m.).
According to this, 2,761 people are currently infected with the corona virus in Saarland.
186 corona patients are treated in hospitals, 66 of them in intensive care units.
The number of infections detected in Saarland since the beginning of the pandemic a good year ago is 35,471.
According to the ministry, a total of around 311,000 antigen tests were carried out last week in the Saarland, particularly in pharmacies, in the five rapid test centers of the state government and in the municipal test centers.
This means a new record.
389 of these tests or 0.13 percent were positive.
Tests in doctors' offices and companies would not be counted, it said.
In addition, around 18,000 PCR tests were examined in laboratories in Saarland.

"It is very gratifying that the Saarlanders are so willing to test and that over 91,000 more rapid tests were carried out compared to last week," said Health Minister Monika Bachmann (CDU).
