Cologne (dpa) - ping-pong with pop stars, concerts from the bed house or interviews in a dog salon - the Cologne music festival "c / o pop" is again focusing on unusual pop culture experiences with its digital edition.
Music fans can watch the festival program from April 22nd to 23rd free of charge in an internet stream.
There are pop concerts, panel discussions and interviews with around 100 artists.
“Of course we always hoped to be able to present music on site again this year,” said “c / o pop” managing director Norbert Oberhaus of the German press agency.
"At the same time, we used the digital edition as an opportunity to develop new formats and innovations that help us jump into the present."

The highlights of the two-day streaming offer are concerts by the German pop musician Elif, the South African songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou and the German pop band Die Höchste Eisenbahn.
There are also numerous specials in which artists can also be experienced away from the classic stages.
For example, pop singer Bosse can be seen playing table tennis and star pianist Chilly Gonzales "in bed" in a bed block.
The “c / o pop” makers also pre-recorded smaller shows such as the “Rad des Grauens” with the Cologne pop band OK Kid.
"There'll be a lot of jokes here," said Oberhaus.
"Even with the first digital edition, we were certain that simply streaming music was not enough and we were successful with it - we were able to reach about as many viewers as we had at the festival in earlier times," says Oberhaus.
With the experience of the first digital "c / o pop xoxo" edition, the program was condensed to two days and the individual program items condensed.
"In this way we hope to accommodate the habits of the younger target group even better."

Since the festival is largely financed through subsidies, the organizers do not have to contend with fears of existence.
“With the digital edition, we want to use fees to help the many artists who are struggling with major failures due to the pandemic,” says Oberhaus.
This is also partly due to the addition of "xoxo", an English abbreviation for Hugs and Kisses.
The festival organizers are also a little proud that the proportion of female artists was increased to over 60 percent this year.
"In what used to be a male-dominated industry, we are also showing that something has long since changed in the role models in the pop culture business."
Accompanying the festival program, industry representatives will discuss current developments in the music market and pop culture topics in around 50 talks and workshops at the parallel “c / o pop Convention” until Saturday.
Participation is also possible free of charge for all interested parties after registering in advance.
