Görlitz (dpa / sn) - During a foray, a 33-year-old man went swimming in Görlitz in the truest sense of the word.

According to the police on Wednesday, he had jumped into the Neisse with a backpack and a bag full of stolen goods on the eve of the police officers and then swam to the other bank to Poland.

However, police from the Görlitz district rushed to the other side and arrested the alleged thief on the Polish side when he came out of the water.

There was an arrest warrant against the man, he is known to the police, it said.

The officers handed him over to their Polish colleagues.

The rucksack and the bag, which contained, among other things, two impact drills in their original packaging, were secured.

The public prosecutor in Poland now has to decide on the extradition of the man to Germany.
