Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Düsseldorf plant manufacturer SMS Group becomes the sole owner of the Luxembourg blast furnace manufacturer Paul Wurth.
After the family company acquired almost 60 percent of Wurth in 2012, it is now taking over the remaining shares that the Luxembourg state has held directly and indirectly up to now.
This was announced by SMS on Wednesday.
In future, SMS and Wurth could offer all technologies for reducing CO2 emissions in steel production from a single source.
The change in the steel industry towards climate-neutral production is the right time to bring together the competencies of Wurth and SMS, said SMS supervisory board chairman Edwin Eichler.
SMS is a group of several plant and mechanical engineering companies for the steel and non-ferrous metal industry.
The group has around 14,000 employees and most recently generated annual sales of a good 2.9 billion euros.
