Berlin (dpa) - During a demonstration by Corona critics in Berlin and their evacuation, the police temporarily arrested 152 participants on Wednesday.

They are accused of violating the Corona rules as well as attacks on emergency services, resistance to law enforcement officers and attempted prisoner liberation, as the police announced on Twitter.

More than 8,000 demonstrators gathered on Wednesday near the government district on Straße des 17. Juni to protest against the state's corona policy.

At the same time, the Bundestag was discussing the tightening of the Infection Protection Act, which has since been passed.

The Reichstag building and the Brandenburg Gate were largely cordoned off.

At noon, the police ordered the dissolution of the protest due to massive disregard of the corona rules.

But much of the crowd didn't leave.

For hours there were clashes with the police, who repeatedly pulled troublemakers out of the zoo, where part of them had been pushed.

Police officers were attacked and bottles were also thrown at officials.

According to the police, participants also tried to free those arrested.

Police officers should have used punches and kicks.

Pepper spray was also used.

Meanwhile, demonstrators gathered near Bellevue Palace.

Another meeting had been scheduled.

The police were in action on Wednesday with a large number of around 2,200 officers.

The capital officials were supported by forces from other federal states as well as the federal police.
