Halle (dpa / sa) - A US aircraft bomb from the Second World War was defused on Wednesday in Halle at the location where it was found.

At 1:15 p.m., the operations management of the ordnance disposal service gave the all-clear, the city said.

In the morning, containers filled with soil were set up around the site where the 75-kilogram bomb was found to defuse it.

As a result, the danger area could be secured and significantly reduced, it said.

An evacuation was not planned because of the corona pandemic.

As it was also said, it is already the sixth bomb that was discovered on the construction site of a football youth training center.

First of all, a security area with a radius of 250 meters was set up around the site on Wednesday.

There are five apartment blocks on the edge of this security area, the residents of which were asked not to linger at the windows facing the site while the bombs were being defused.

The police, public order office and fire brigade had informed the residents in the affected houses on site.
