Insel Poel (dpa / mv) - On the island of Poel, a new concept for corona vaccinations is to be tested together with the Bundeswehr on Wednesday.

According to the district of Northwest Mecklenburg, a vaccination station is to be set up temporarily in Kirchdorf, which will offer vaccinations without a prior appointment.

It is a first test run of such a collaboration, said district spokesman Christoph Wohlleben.

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) had said in the past that they wanted to create additional vaccination offers in the area with mobile teams and the support of the Bundeswehr.

According to the district, the team deployed on Wednesday consists of a doctor, a medical specialist and two members of the armed forces.

In the morning, people over 70 years of age and in the afternoon people between the ages of 60 and 69 who live on the island of Poel or in the immediate vicinity of the island should be able to be vaccinated.

For the first time window, Biontech / Pfizer vaccine is available for almost 50 vaccinations.

Astrazeneca vaccine can be vaccinated up to 60 times in the afternoon.
