The demand for a referendum comes from parents who collected 1060 signatures.

They are critical of the new school organization that will be implemented in connection with the construction of a new school.

The Sweden Democrats voted in favor, Filipstadssamverkan (M, C and L) abstained from voting, and thus S and V did not reach the 2/3 majority required to say no to the referendum.

If the issue now returns to the City Council, however, the moderates will vote no to the referendum, which they previously wanted.

- It will feel a little cozy, but at the same time we have to stick to reality and to spend half a million on something that will not mean anything, it is a waste of money, says Christer Olsson (M).

If the issue is raised again in the City Council, it does not look like there will be a referendum.

- We have said from the beginning that we do not think that the referendum should be held, I do not think it will happen, but it is also a question of democracy, says the chairman of the municipal board Åsa Hååkman Felth.
