Munich (dpa) - The movie "The Boandlkramer and Eternal Love" with Michael Bully Herbig and Hape Kerkeling, which has been postponed several times due to Corona, is now only to be available as a streaming offer.

The last work of the director Joseph Vilsmaier (“Herbstmilch”, “Schlafes Bruder”, “Comedian Harmonists”), who died in February 2020, will start on Amazon Prime Video on May 14, the streaming service and the film company Leonine Studios announced on Wednesday.

Herbig (52) said according to the announcement: "After the cinema release unfortunately had to be postponed several times, we are of course very happy that the film has finally found a way to the audience."

As soon as it is possible again, the film will also be seen on the big screen.

"That's what he was made for, and we owe that to the director Joseph Vilsmaier."

The film was shot in late 2019 and should start in late 2020.

Then the start was pushed back to February 11, 2021.

The love comedy is a loose continuation of the work “The story of Kaspar from Brandner”.

Michael Herbig takes on the role of Boandlkramer from Franz von Kobell's short story again.

Hannah Herzsprung plays his love in the swing, Kerkeling the devil.

The Leonine Studios boss Fred Kogel said about the start for Amazon Prime members: “The work of all creative people involved and the high level of interest from the audience deserve that we break new ground in film exploitation together with Amazon Prime Video. »

There should be a "tailor-made distribution strategy" that currently takes into account the pandemic.

In the long term, the cinema is “the place to share film experiences and the number 1 for the distribution of large and commercially strong films,” said Kogel.

For “The Boandlkramer and Eternal Love”, “an event cinema weekend and special screenings” are being planned on the occasion of the second anniversary of Joseph Vilsmaier's death in early 2022.
