Rostock / Greifswald (dpa / mv) - According to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus), the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald has eliminated the significant delay in reporting corona cases.

"The validity of the data currently meets the requirements of the Infection Protection Act," said the authority in Rostock on request.

The law stipulates that health authorities report corona cases to the respective state authority on the following working day at the latest.

The district had come under fire in the past for delays in reporting. Late reported data will affect the incidence value. In Western Pomerania-Greifswald, the value in the past, taking into account later reported cases, was in some cases significantly higher than the daily incidence value reported by the Lagus, which is decisive for political measures.

District Administrator Michael Sack (CDU) and the Lagus identified the district's working methods as the cause after an investigation at the beginning of April.

Before the report was passed on, the district initially processed 70 pieces of information to be requested from people who had tested positive.

According to the recommendation of the Lagus, however, an initial report is also possible with only six key details.

Sack had announced a corresponding adjustment of the processes.

The data transmitted to the Lagus showed that the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald was implementing the announced improvements, the authority said.
