Mindelheim (dpa) - After the death of a two-year-old in the Allgäu, the police are investigating three Kita employees for negligent homicide.
The boy, who drowned after falling in a canal in Mindelheim (Unterallgäu district), was in the care of the facility at the time of the accident, the police said on Wednesday.
Accordingly, at the end of March, the carers were with a group of children in a playground when the two-year-old climbed through a barrier unobserved and fell into the canal.
According to their own statements, the police now primarily want to determine whether the employees of the daycare center have violated their duty of supervision in the accident.
Police first responders later rescued the boy from the canal, but attempts at resuscitation failed.
The child died in a Munich hospital.
