Erfurt (dpa / th) - Parents and children in Thuringia have to adapt to the new Federal Infection Protection Act on day-care centers and schools being closed across the board.

«Emergency care is secured.

We will not change the existing rules for this, ”said Education Minister Helmut Holter (left) of the German Press Agency on the sidelines of the state parliament session.

The rules that have been known since January would apply.

Children in grades one to six as well as daycare children whose parents cannot work in the home office or who cannot organize any other reasonable care option can then take advantage of emergency care. It also applies to children of parents who work in areas that are of public interest or are important for combating pandemics. These include the areas of education and training, public safety and administration, transport and traffic or information technology.

It is currently still unclear when the new Infection Protection Act will come into force, which will prescribe school closings with a seven-day incidence of 165 in the districts and urban districts.

Formally, it is about suspending classroom teaching, explained Holter.

This would currently apply to the majority of the districts in Thuringia because of their high numbers of infections.

With an incidence of 100 to 165, alternating classes are provided.

The regulations are expected to take effect in the coming week.

This Thursday, the Federal Council is dealing with the law, which then has to be checked and signed by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

There are still lessons in the final classes, which also include the fourth grades, in which a possible change to high school is decided, said the education minister.

Lessons also continue at special schools.

In the future, only students, teachers and school staff will have access to schools if they have tested negative for the corona virus.
