Dingolfing / Mühldorf am Inn (dpa / lby) - More and more districts in Bavaria are offering Astrazeneca doses for all adults in vaccination campaigns.

Both the Lower Bavarian district of Dingolfing-Landau and the district of Mühldorf am Inn in Upper Bavaria announced on Wednesday that they would offer “open vaccination days” for everyone over the age of 18 over the coming weekend.

"The more people we immunize with the existing vaccine, the faster the situation can change," said the Dingolfing District Administrator Werner Bumeder (CSU).

"We want to inoculate every vaccine that arrives in Dingolfing."

Around 600 vaccinations are planned for the special campaign on Sunday.

With open vaccination campaigns in Bavarian districts, the demand for the Astrazeneca vaccine has recently been high.

However, the offers were mostly aimed at citizens aged 60 and over.

Most recently, the Standing Vaccination Commission recommended that the preparation in Germany only be injected into people in this age group.

In the Corona hotspot Hof, however, people over the age of 18 have also been vaccinated with a special contingent of the Astrazeneca vaccine since last week.

In Saxony, too, younger people have been able to get the Astrazeneca vaccine from family doctors since Tuesday.

The vaccination may only take place after a detailed consultation.
