New measures, new reports and highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic around the world.

- Daily record of deaths in India -

India recorded more than 2,000 deaths from Covid-19 on Wednesday and nearly 300,000 new cases in 24 hours, which represents one of the highest daily tolls in the world since the start of the pandemic, according to official data .

This exponential recrudescence, with nearly 3.5 million new infections since the beginning of the month, is notably attributed to a "double mutation" of the virus.

- Vaccines in Idleb -

Some 53,800 doses of the vaccine are due to arrive in this region, which encompasses the stronghold of Idleb and its surroundings.

- Collective immunity in the fall in Russia?

Vladimir Putin said he was aiming for collective immunity against Covid-19 in Russia in the fall, hailing his country's "real scientific breakthrough" with the creation of three vaccines, including his flagship serum, Sputnik V.

The Russian president intends to "keep all borders under control to slow the spread" of the virus.

- Next easing of restrictions in France -

France plans to lift on May 2 the ban on moving more than 10 km from home, possibly easing the curfew and reopening from mid-May terraces, non-food shops and places of culture, with reduced gauges, according to a source close to the executive.

Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon in Corsica (South), for its part announced the postponement or cancellation of a large part of the festivities of the bicentenary of the death of the Emperor on May 5, due to the health crisis.

- Vaccination at Disneyland Paris -

A large vaccination center will open Saturday at Disneyland Paris, the amusement park located 30 km east of the French capital and temporarily closed due to the pandemic, local authorities said.

After ceasing its activity between March 13 and July 15, 2020, Disneyland Paris, which employs 17,000 people, has been shut down again since October 30.

- Towards a lifting of the state of emergency in Finland -

Finland plans to lift several of its restrictions starting next week, as part of a government "exit plan" that would end the state of emergency introduced in early March to contain the epidemic .

- More than three million dead -

The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus has killed at least 3,046,134 people worldwide since December 2019, according to a report established by AFP from official sources, Wednesday at 10 am GMT.

The United States is the country with the highest death toll (568,470), followed by Brazil (378,003), Mexico (213,048), India (182,553) and the United Kingdom (127,307).

These figures are globally underestimated.

They are based on daily reports from national health authorities, without including reassessments based on statistical bases.
