Eisenberg (dpa / lrs) - In the Corona year 2020, slightly more people insured with AOK were sick in Saarland than in the previous year.

That comes from the current health report of the health insurance company.

Accordingly, the sick leave last year was 6.2 percent.

In 2019 it was 6.1 percent.

Nationwide, the sickness rate was 5.4 percent last year.

According to the information, incapacity for work lasted an average of 15.7 days per case in Saarland.

Most absent days were caused by musculoskeletal disorders such as back pain with 21.2 percent, followed by mental illnesses (12.8 percent), respiratory diseases (11.2 percent) and injuries (9.3 percent).

"We assume that many employees have refrained from seeing a doctor for fear of infection," said AOK CEO Martina Niemeyer.

At the same time, the increased duration of sick leave indicates that the sick were more stressed in the pandemic situation.
