Eisenberg (dpa / lrs) - In the Corona year 2020, just as many AOK insured persons were sick in Rhineland-Palatinate as in the previous year.

That comes from the current health report of the health insurance company.

According to this, the sickness rate was 5.2 percent in the past year as well as in 2019.

Nationwide it was 5.4 percent.

According to the information, incapacity for work lasted an average of 15.5 days per case and has increased by two days per case compared to the previous year.

Most absent days were caused by musculoskeletal disorders such as back pain with 22.3 percent, followed by mental illness (11.6 percent), injuries (10.3 percent) and respiratory diseases (10.2 percent).

"We assume that many employees have refrained from seeing a doctor for fear of infection," said AOK CEO Martina Niemeyer.

At the same time, the increased duration of sick leave indicates that the sick were more stressed in the pandemic situation.
