Bremen / Hanover (dpa / lni) - After the power struggle for the Union's candidacy for chancellor, Lower Saxony's CDU boss Bernd Althusmann wants to involve the party base more closely in future personnel decisions.

«We did not conduct a member survey or vote.

For the future, it would make sense for us as a Union to seriously consider this instrument as part of our structural reform, ”Althusmann told the Bremen“ Weser-Kurier ”(Wednesday).

"So far we unfortunately have no procedure in the event of a controversial vote within the Union siblings."

“The process was a bit bumpy for the entire Union and cost trust.

There is nothing to gloss over, "Althusmann told the paper.

"But if we make an effort now and put our personal sensitivities aside, finally concentrate on the substantive dispute with the other parties, then I am in good spirits."
