Braunschweig (dpa / lni) - After several shots at the occupants of two cars in Braunschweig, a fourth suspect is in custody.

The 24-year-old from Braunschweig reported himself to the police, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

Accordingly, the man knew that he was wanted as a suspect.

The spokesman did not give any further details.

"The investigation into the background of the crime continues."

In addition to the 24-year-old, there are two 25-year-old men and a 31-year-old in custody.

According to the investigators' findings so far, the perpetrators shot two cars in Braunschweig on Saturday evening.

According to the prosecutor, the crime scenes are relatively close together.

Three men aged 27, 28 and 31 escaped from the car into a doorway.

They were later shot at again.

At least one car was hit, and another projectile apparently unintentionally hit the windshield of a passing tram.

Nobody got hurt.

Lower Saxony's Interior Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) condemned the act.

According to the Interior Ministry, it is a prolonged conflict between two groups.

Accordingly, criminal clan members were involved.
