Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - As a consequence of the parliamentary committee of inquiry into consultancy contracts, the state parliament has changed the state budget.

The ministries in Saxony-Anhalt are now legally obliged to inform the state parliament about consultancy contracts.

The state government must explain the goals and purposes of all reports, studies and consultancy contracts in the budget if they cost more than 20,000 euros.

The state parliament passed the corresponding bill by the CDU, SPD and Greens on Wednesday with the votes of the coalition and the left, while the AfD voted no.

Committee chairman Guido Heuer (CDU) said it remains to be seen whether the new regulations will be sufficient or whether they will have to be tightened in the coming legislative period.

Right at the beginning of the electoral term, the state parliament set up a U-Committee to examine how often the previous government had bought in external consultants without involving parliament.

The occasion was audits by the State Audit Office, according to which the Ministry of Finance in particular had spent large sums of money bypassing parliament through constructs with several partners.

The main reason for taking a closer look was a so-called agency agreement between the Ministry of Finance under the then head of department Jens Bullerjahn (SPD) with the state's own investment bank and the Institute for Structural Policy and Economic Research in Halle, the volume of which was well over

20,000 euros.

Contracts from other ministries were also noticed.
