Berlin (dpa / bb) - Supporters of Alexej Nawalny want to demonstrate on Wednesday evening in Berlin for the release of the anti-Kremlin.

The protest march is to start in the early evening at the Federal Chancellery.

As the Berlin police announced on Wednesday, 50 participants are registered.

The aim of the demonstration, which takes place under the motto "Freedom for Navalny", among other things across the Strasse des 17. Juni and the Platz des 18. March, is the Russian embassy on Unter den Linden.

According to a spokesman, the police are accompanying the demonstration, which has been registered by an individual.

In Russia, Nawalny's team spontaneously announced protests in more than 160 Russian cities this Wednesday because the 44-year-old's health in the prison camp is said to have deteriorated massively.

The opposition, who barely survived a poison attack last summer, has been complaining about severe back pain and paralysis in his arms and legs for a long time.

He went on a hunger strike about three weeks ago to protest the lack of medical care.
