Rheine (dpa / lnw) - A 19-year-old fell 50 meters into a water-filled gravel pit in Rheine (Steinfurt district) and was injured in the process.
As the police announced on Tuesday morning, the woman climbed over a fence with her 18-year-old companion on Monday evening and walked along the pit.
The two sat on the edge of the pit to look at the lake.
Part of the subsoil had broken away, so that the young woman slid about 50 meters into the depth.
She was injured in the process.
She was taken to a clinic by rescue helicopter.
Her companion was unharmed in the incident.
