Tübingen (dpa) - Anyone who is fully vaccinated does not have to do a quick test in Tübingen and do not have to show a day ticket to use retail and cultural facilities.

According to Mayor Boris Palmer (Greens) on Tuesday, it is sufficient for customers to show their vaccination card.

Vaccinated are those who can prove that a vaccination has been completed for at least 14 days - usually with two vaccinations.

For the continuation of the Tübingen model test, it is crucial to include the vaccinated so that the trade can serve a sufficient number of customers, said Palmer.

The second extension of the pilot project “Opening with Safety” beyond April 18 was linked to the condition that the project be interrupted on three consecutive days if the incidence exceeds 100.

"At the latest with the federal emergency brake, as it is currently planned, the project should actually be canceled," said a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Social Affairs on Tuesday.

Whether the federal emergency brake will allow this project and possibly others to continue as a model remains to be seen, said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Palmer tries to do that.

At a video conference held by the City Council with Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday, Palmer and his colleagues from Münster and Rostock campaigned for successful model tests to be continued.

Since March 16, people in Tübingen have been able to have themselves tested free of charge at several stations - with the certificates of the results, the day tickets, they can then go to shops, the hairdresser or even to theaters and museums.

Due to the large crowd from outside, the tests are now limited to people from the Tübingen district.
