• Justice The State must pay the Franco family the costs of conservation and works in the Pazo de Meirás since 1975

  • Execution of the sentence Execution of the sentence.

The State already has the keys to the Pazo de Meirás: "It is a day of historical justice"

The furniture of the

Pazo de Meirás,

which since last December has been on deposit in favor of the State, must now be delivered to the Franco family. This has just been agreed by the A

Coruña Provincial Court

when estimating an appeal presented by the heirs of the dictator in the framework of the legal action for the ownership of this property located in the town of

Sada

.

Two judgments of the

Court of First Instance number 1

and of the third section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña ruled that the Pazo, which during the dictatorship was Franco's summer residence, is owned by the State and, in execution of the sentence, it was agreed the deposit of all the furniture.

However, now, that deposit is revoked and the State must return the deposited deposit.

The provincial court highlights that the Administration demanded a property right over a cadastral parcel, a concept that does not include "tables, chairs, crockery, carpets or pictures", that is, that it has to deliver the furniture because it did not claim them at the time. .
