Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Philologists Association of Rhineland-Palatinate has called for a vaccination for all school employees in view of the increasing number of new corona infections among schoolchildren.

"What we now need are vaccinations for all employees in schools and study seminars, in a further step also for schoolchildren and for the families affected," said the chairwoman of the teachers' association, Cornelia Schwartz, on Tuesday in Mainz.

“These vaccinations must now be offered quickly.

Anything else would be irresponsible. "

In Rhineland-Palatinate, according to the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko), so far only those working at daycare centers, elementary and special schools belong to the groups who have already received a corona vaccination.

A vaccine for children and adolescents has not yet been approved.

According to the supervisory and service directorate (ADD) of the state, 1,487 students and 97 teachers have been shown to have been infected since the start of the school year.
