Hamburg (dpa / lno) - At a digital special conference on April 23 and 24, the Synod of the North Church will deal with the issues of the church in GDR times, young people and climate protection.

The North Church announced on Tuesday.

According to the information, further topics of the conference are the partnership agreement between the North Church and the South Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as well as the elections of alternate members in the EKD Synod and VELKD General Synod.

The Synod does not want to be paralyzed by the pandemic and the troubles of a conference in the digital space, said the Synod's President, Ulrike Hillmann.

Instead, she will deal with important issues in the special session and bring laws in motion.

She said she was very grateful to the regional synodals for contributing their time and strength in these difficult times.

"In advance we sent sunflower seeds from which many beautiful shoots have already grown," she said.
