Stuttgart / Berlin (dpa) - CDU Federal Vice Thomas Strobl has backed the decision for Armin Laschet as the Union's candidate for chancellor.
"One of the great strengths of Armin Laschet is: He can integrate, bring together," said Strobl on Tuesday.
«His perseverance over the past few days has made me respectful.
It is carved from Chancellor's wood. "
He voted for Armin Laschet, said Strobl - "and I trust Armin Laschet to build bridges now within the CDU and also between the two Union parties."
The two sisters, the CDU and the CSU, would now have to meet together behind the candidate for chancellor.
