Regensburg (dpa / lby) - Ten months after a SEK official was seriously injured during an operation in Regensburg, the alleged perpetrator faces a long prison sentence.

On Tuesday (3 p.m.) the judgment is to be pronounced in front of the regional court.

The defendant presented what had happened at the beginning of the trial through his defense lawyer as an accident.

The public prosecutor accuses the German of attempted murder, serious arson and serious bodily harm and, according to the court, pleaded for a nine-year prison sentence.

The defense demanded a maximum prison sentence of three and a half years for negligent bodily harm and negligent arson.

Both pleaded for the man to be placed in rehab.

According to the investigation, the defendant threw incendiary devices out of the window at night in June 2020, whereupon witnesses called the police and a special task force (SEK) approached.

Upon entering the man's apartment, a fire trap that the man is said to have built exploded.

One policeman was badly burned.
