Bielefeld (dpa) - over and over!
After another weak performance, FC Schalke 04 have to enter the 2nd Bundesliga for the fourth time after 1981, 1983 and 1988.
The Royal Blues conceded a 0-1 (0-0) defeat at Arminia Bielefeld on Wednesday and cannot be saved four game days before the end.
13 points, 21 losses this season and 76 goals conceded document the rapid decline of the once glorious old master and former Champions League participant.
Arminia, on the other hand, landed an important victory in the relegation battle and moved up to 14th place in the table with 30 points for at least 24 hours. The lead over the relegation place is four points. However, the Berliners currently in quarantine have played two fewer games. Fabian Klos (50th) scored the Bielefeld victory. The striker missed another goal with a penalty (80th). At the time, the guests were already outnumbered after Malick Thiaw saw the yellow-red card (71.).
"We want to see a team that gives everything for the club until the end," demanded coach Dimitrios Grammozis.
